It traces its history to the apostles through the Apostolic succession in the Western Latin Church, particularized and recorded in Roman Britain as far back as the 1st century. This ancient link to Rome to which Irenaeus says “every church” should “resort” on account of its “preeminent authority,” has enriched the inter-church identity of the English Catholic Church, not only across Britain and continental Europe but also and especially globally within what is sometimes referred to as the “Catholic Communion of Churches”.
A two and a half century ” Cesura ” marked by The See of Rome Act which enforced the beginning of the separation from the Holy See or popularly, “Rome”, meant that English Catholicism was effectively outlawed and comprehensively stripped of its assets in the land and clerical opponents to reform were either martyred or expelled.
Legislative restrictions were placed on Catholics some of which continued into the 20th century while the ban on Catholic worship lasted until the Catholic Relief Act , but did not automatically affect foreign embassies in London , although serving priests could be hounded.

Anthony’s Catholic Primary School website. Here you can start to discover what makes St. Anthony’s such a special place, why children love to be here and why they remember it with such affection after they have left. The children will be taught a broad and balanced curriculum by wonderful teachers, and the academic standards will be high. It will be about our Catholic faith that teaches children to follow the example of Jesus.
It will be about giving everyone the opportunity to shine and be proud; it will be about having the confidence to have a go at anything and the belief that you can succeed. We will continue to teach the children to have pride in themselves and to work harmoniously with each other.
As Holy Family, we learn, believe and seek to make the right choices, as God’s children. As an outstanding Catholic school, we support our parents and families , to help their children to continue grow in the love of Christ to achieve their full potential. It is a privilege to be a Head teacher and an even greater privilege to be the Head teacher of Holy Family.
Here at Holy Family, we do not see any circumstances that should be a barrier to learning and progress. We hold the highest of expectations and work to support each child to achieve success, not only academically, but socially, morally, spiritually and culturally. As a result, high aspirations lead to high standards at Holy Family.
